Cookie Policy

This page lists every cookie and similar storage technology that PayVAT uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and which consent category it falls under. Where consent is required, the cookie isn't set until you've opted in via the banner.
Categories
- Strictly necessary — needed for the service to work. These are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Directive (because the service can't function without them).
- Error monitoring — opt-in. Helps us spot and fix bugs.
- Analytics — opt-in. PayVAT does not currently set any analytics cookies; this category is reserved for if we ever do.
What we set

Local storage
We also use the browser's localStorage to cache UI preferences (e.g. expanded panels, last-opened period) so the dashboard feels responsive between visits. These are not cookies and don't leave your browser, but we list them here for transparency:
- payvat-ui-prefs — UI preferences (collapsed sections, last filter, etc.). Cleared when you sign out.
Third-party cookies
When you embed third-party flows in your account (e.g. Stripe Checkout for billing, TrueLayer for bank connection), those services may set their own cookies on their own domains as part of completing the flow. They're governed by those providers' own cookie policies:
Changing your choice
You can change your cookie preferences at any time:
- Clear your payvat-cookie-consent cookie via your browser settings — the consent banner will re-appear on your next visit.
- Or contact us at privacy@payvat.ie and we'll reset it for you.
